My clothier, Tom, at Brooks Brothers, is the consummate professional. I stopped by today to get a new suit, and he treated me like I was the only customer he had that day. Great service!

Clear and a Million

Pilots describe current weather in terms of ceiling height and visibility distance. "Clear and a million" translates into no ceiling and unlimited visibility, in other words, a cloudless, brilliant sky. Today's weather was such, and it was a fitting backdrop for the three WWII warbirds that visited my home airport, Charleston Executive, here on Johns Island. I learned to fly here some 42 years ago. The world's last flying B-24, a B-17, and the only flying two-seater P-51 filled the bill, as my favorite flying enthusiast, Barney, and I paid $12 for an almost exclusive exploring of these old horses. The B-17 and B-24 are tight fits. The control wires and hydraulic lines are exposed. The outer shell is thin. How anyone could brave this environment at high altitudes, under fire and flak, for multiple hours is beyond me. Most of these souls are gone. The warbirds survive.

I trimmed the myrtles that border the marsh that's next to the lawn that sets the back yard that looks over the house that Debbi built.
